PACWEST 2020 SEASON CANCELLED

PacWest Families,   
 
This has been a difficult first full year as President for me as I have had to deal with multiple break ins and now a global pandemic. Luckily I’ve had a great team helping me along the way that includes Todd & Jenn Loiselle, Berta Keller, Doug Mason, Luke Hagler, Cammie Pekonen, Ken Kemp, Matt McCormick, Dave Volkers, Amanda Bennett, Stacy Tep, Cody Cox, Sheri Conn and Jon Moormeier. I appreciate all the support and trust these folks as well as you families have put in me to guide this league through difficult times.   

The PacWest Board have had numerous meetings over the last few months to try and figure out how to make this season work. We have held out hope that we could somehow make this season work while the worry of COVID still exists. Unfortunately we have decided that there is no way to safely have a 2020 baseball season even this fall. This decision hasn’t come easily as I have personally gone back and forth on it, but in the end it is the right one for our players and volunteers. We have gone over every possible scenario, but we can’t come up with a safe one while also making sure we can give the kids a good experience. The last thing we want to do is give the kids a bad experience and them not want to come back. We also don’t want to put our dedicated volunteers in a position where they have to worry about social distancing and making sure the kids are wearing the masks as they want to be able to enjoy themselves as well.   

We are giving parents/guardians two options. The first one will be a full refund minus the $3.00 service fee. If you decide on this option I will need the player name(s), who to write the check to, and address to mail the check to. Second option is a full or partial donation of your league fee. Although we didn’t have a season we still have costs associated with the maintenance of our fields and buildings. We were expecting to use the proceeds from the Snack Shack during the season to go towards a new and improved building. We understand times are tough and everyone can’t donate so please don’t feel pressured. Please reply to [email protected] with which of the two options you would like. We will be processing over 175 of these requests and we will only be writing checks once a week to make things easier for our treasurer. We appreciate your patience as we work through the refunds.   

PacWest appreciates your patience and support during these difficult times. This is not how we planned for the 2020 season to go, but we will use this extra time to start the demolition on the building and any necessary repairs/upgrades to our fields. This way we will come back next year better than ever and hopefully with a new Snack Shack.
